The Road To Quality

The “Road to Quality” is an initiative made possible through the partnership between the Missouri AfterSchool Network (MASN), the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and individual grant-funded afterschool programs.

The Road to Quality (RtoQ) is an interactive process that will lead to professional growth among afterschool staff and improvement in services provided for youth and families.

KEYS TO SUCCESS

Success is contingent upon a program’s participation and input. It is imperative that agencies are committed to working with your Afterschool Regional Educator throughout the entire process of the Road to Quality.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

The Missouri AfterSchool Network requires the following from each participant:

• Dedication to improving the quality of your program and lives of the youth served
• Willingness to share organizational documentation (i.e. parent handbooks, job descriptions, schedules, lesson plans, etc.)
• Ensuring staff participation throughout the process
• Commitment to completing the action plans
• Participation in the Missouri AfterSchool Network’s self-study process

THREE LANES ON THE ROAD TO QUALITY
All grantees will be actively engaged in one of the three “lanes” of the Road to Quality. The placement of a program on the RtoQ and thus the technical assistance received from the Missouri AfterSchool Network’s Resource Center will be determined by individual site needs and interests.

• Licensure—For those programs seeking licensure, the RtoQ will help you prepare for licensure visits and provide tools to assure success.
• MO Quality—All programs receive the benefit of participation in MASN’s self-improvement process built on emerging Missouri Afterschool Quality Standards.
• Accreditation—For those programs seeking Missouri or National Afterschool Association accreditation, the RtoQ will help you through the self-assessment process and prepare for accreditation or endorsement visits.
